Terre di Pietra

Piccola Peste Rosso Veronese 2020

£19.95

Piccola Peste in Italian refers to a particularly unruly and mischievous child and is the name given to Terre di Pietra’s daily wine, as playful and sincere as it is unpredictably dynamic and full of energy. It’s a red natural wine made from organically farmed 50% Corvinone, 20% Rondinella, 20% Corvina, and 10% Molinara, spontaneous fermentation and then aged 9 months in steel and 5 in the bottle. Fresh and electrically thirst-quenching, it sprints and bounces with notes of fresh forest strawberries, smoked plums, black pepper, and hibiscus.

Producer Profile

Terre di Pietra

Terre di Pietra is a natural winery located in Veneto’s famed Valpolicella area, best known for Amarone della Valpolicella, founded by husband and wife team Cristiano and Laura in 2005 when they first started vinifying in an old garage they borrowed from Cristiano’s father. Terre di Pietra believes in respecting biodiversity and the uniqueness of Valpolicella's terroir. The farm embraces a range of different soils and microclimates in the Valpolicella hills. Having excluded all chemicals from the vineyards from its inception and embraced wild fermentations, they farm predominantly Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and Molinara for the reds, and Garganega for whites. These are wines of passion, place, and intense expressiveness, that carry the unbridled energy of Laura, after her premature passing.
