Lamoresca

Rosato 2020

£18.95

Lamoresca Rosato is an explosively delicious, energetic, and grippy rosè natural wine from Sicilian pioneer vigneron Filippo Rizzo. It’s made from organically farmed local varieties Frappato and Nero D’Avola with a touch of Moscato. Grown on hillside soils rich with biodiversity and characterized by sandstone, limestone, and clay, these are vines that are often venerably old, further adding to the intensity of the wines. Brimming with serious structure and character, this is a serious and adult pink wine, filled with wild mulberries, Byzantine spices, smoked pomegranate, and wild herbs.

Lamoresca

The Lamoresca farm is located in the ruggedly enchanting hills of the Sicilian hinterland, near the burg of San Michele di Ganzaria, in the South-Eastern part of the island. Having been established in 2000, the farm has long since been certified organic and can be said to be one of the earliest pioneers of natural farming and winemaking in Sicily. Lamoresca is roughly 10 hectares, vineyards grow on sandstone, limestone, and clay soils; the varietals are some of Sicily's very own ones such as Nero d’Avola, Zibibbo, Nerello Mascalese, Frappato, Grenache, with some Vermentino – most of which venerably old. Needless to say, the careful and loving natural work in the vineyard is faithfully mirrored in the cellar, with spontaneous fermentation, skin contact for both red and whites, and an unflinching focus on highlighting with each bottle the vitality of this unique terroir.
