£27.95

Ampeleia Unlitro gets its name from its 1-liter format and has long since become a darling to natural wine lovers the world over. The epitome of the daily, convivial wine, it transcends its rustic, immediate dimension and manages to convey depth and nuance together with freshness and energy. It’s a blend of local and naturalizsed Tuscan varieties – Alicante Nero, Alicante Bouschet, Carignano, Sangiovese, Mourvedre – all from biodynamic vines grown on iron and mineral-rich soils. Wild fermentation, as well as elevage, all take place in cement tanks, in order to preserve the freshness and purity of the fruit. Ampeleia Unlitro bursts with juicy and playful notes of fresh pomegranate, mulberry jam, dark roots, and Mediterranean herbs.

Producer Profile

Ampeleia

Ampeleia is a biodynamic estate located in Tuscany’s coastal Maremma area. It was founded by the then only 22 years-old Marco Tait. The name means “vine” in Ancient Greek and the winery’s vision is best summarized in Marco’s own words: “We work respecting the message that lives within the fruit, we shepherd the grape towards becoming wine. Step by step, year by year, with the knowledge that this is a wonderful, endless journey”. The estate is comprised of about 35 hectares, distributed at 3 levels of altitude, with several different micro-climates. These are wines of passion and commitment, always channeling the energy of both terroir and the vigneron.
