Casa Belfi

Bianco Frizzante NV

£22.95

Bianco Frizzante by Casa Belfi is a sparkling natural wine of unique freshness, sapidity, and terroir-driven character. Having revived Veneto’s ancient tradition of “Prosecco col Fondo”, where the wine is naturally re-fermented in the bottle with its yeasts in suspensions, adding therefore countless and layered worlds of aroma and flavour. It’s made 100% from the Glera variety from vines farmed biodynamically and has never seen any hint of fining, filtration, or added SO2. Casa Belfi Bianco Frizzante is lightly cloudy yet luminous in the glass, it whispers tunes of freshly baked ginger croissants and notes of aromatic hay, fresh yellow plums, and fresh citrus.

Producer Profile

Casa Belfi

Casa Belfi, located smack in the middle of traditional Prosecco-land in Veneto’s San Polo di Pieve, was one of this land’s true pioneers of natural wine, going back to ancestral tradition and creating vibrant, pure natural wines that are the perfect antithesis of the commercial, mass-produced wines that have made this area sadly famous.

It was back in 1999 that the young winemaker Maurizio Donadi, supported by his partner and respected vigneron Albino Armani, founded the winery intending to revive the ancient local viticulture and winemaking heritage and give light to wines that are the truest expression of terroir. The vineyards have long since been certified organic, and with some parcels farmed biodynamically, see the Glera variety as the principal focus and grow on soils characterized by sand, silt, and pebbles.

In order to best favor a healthy, thriving ecosystem and encourage biodiversity, Maurizio and Albino utilize biodynamic compounds and natural extracts and teas made from horsetail, chamomile, and nettles. All the wines are naturally re-fermented in the bottle as dictated by tradition, and are simply a sheer deflagration of terroir-driven freshness, vitality, and light.
